In our last post, we introduced Amy.
The path that Amy took is the same path that almost all entrepreneurs will take, starting out with excitement and enthusiasm for fulfilling her dream of starting her own business…
…the dream of being her own boss and doing what she loves
…the dream of becoming financially independent
…the dream of her business growing and thriving
…the dream of handing it down to her children…and their children
In almost all cases, these dreams are not fulfilled for people like Amy.
Amy is like most entrepreneurs: she’s really good at her core expertise, but is overwhelmed with all the aspects of running a business that are outside of those core skills – and outside of her financial resources to hire others to help.
What she needs is A BETTER WAY.
What she needs is a real business partner. Someone who thinks long-term, has the skills and resources she lacks, and is invested in her success.
So, let’s rewrite the end of her story.
Amy hears about the Vallo Business Accelerator™ (VBA) and submits her proposal. She is accepted into the program and quickly finds herself surrounded by people who are skilled in all aspects of her business, who help her refine her offerings, who think short-term and long term, and who actually care about her as a person.
They don’t just want her business to succeed, they want her family to succeed.
She still works hard, but she spends most of her time on where she is best and, most importantly, she can get to her son’s baseball games, her daughter’s dance lessons, and school events.
She can even take some days off to rest and recharge knowing her business partner, a whole team of people, can cover for her. She shuts her phone off, shuts her eyes, and shuts down so she can recharge. It’s just a couple days, but it’s the first time she was ever able to step away and be present with her family, not worrying about the business.
Years down the road, Amy looked back at what made this work.
VBA was with her from the moment she applied and stayed with her through all of the growing pains. Just like any business partner, they only got paid if she got paid – they shared the risk and the rewards.
They helped with business planning, strategy, innovation, adapting to change, hiring and managing employees, technology, professional development, benefits, engagement in her community, and a wide range of other things.
This partnership not only built a business for her and provided jobs for twenty other people, but the holistic care for the people IN the business helped to revitalize a community – especially when some of her neighbors started their own businesses with the help of VBA.
This is how we create real, lasting impact in our culture.
This is how we build economic opportunity AND rebuild communities.
This is how we tear down walls and bring people together.
